Immanuel Lutheran School provides a well-rounded education guided in faith to prepare students for adulthood. Children in grades one through five receive religious instruction on a daily basis as well as lessons in mathematics, reading comprehension, writing, grammar, spelling, vocabulary, phonics, science and social studies. Students are encouraged to participate in classroom discussions and are given homework most nights. Skills such as organization and responsibility are also taught at this level.
First graders learn in an all-day, self-contained classroom. Students build on skills learned in kindergarten. When multiple sections of first grade are offered, the students participate in leveled groups during reading instruction led by the classroom teachers and resource room teacher. First graders participate in special classes such as music, PE, Spanish, art, and computers. Highlights of first grade include a robust STEM program and being the youngest grade to lead a chapel program with the entire school.
