Happy Easter! With less than a quarter left to go in the school year, ILS has been a busy place. The annual ButterBraids fundraiser wrapped up last month and we’re currently in the middle of preparing for the annual Race for Education. Students will mail postcards to friends and relatives this month asking for donations for our walk-a-thon event in May.

At ILS, we have been blessed to offer a variety of sports and extracurricular activities this spring. We offered a popular chess club for our middle school students. We also offered a cooking club and this month the drama club is hosting its performance of “Seussical.” We’ll display more of our students’ talents at the Fine Arts Night at the end of the month. Mrs. Eskew has been working hard to coordinate our spring book fair with PaperPie in April and our track season is in full swing. We are glad to offer a solid education that engages the whole child.

In the spring, many of our classes go on field trips. Our second graders are taking a trip to the Boone County Conservation District, the seventh graders are visiting Springfield, Illinois, and the fourth graders are visiting Midway Village. Students will also read together for their Big Friend/little friend activity this month.

We have some spaces remaining in some of our classes for the 2024-25 school year. If you are interested in learning more about the educational opportunities provided by ILS and enrolling your child, please contact the school office (815-547-5346). Prospective families complete the following steps to gain admission to ILS:

1. Tour the school and meet with me
2. Complete the Admissions module online (information provided after Step 1 is completed)
3. Complete the Enrollment module online (information provided after Step 2 is completed)
4. Complete the Financial Aid module online (if needed)
